Privacy Policy — Manpo Steps
The short version
Manpo Steps runs entirely on your iPhone and Apple Watch. It has no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code. We never see your data, so we cannot sell it, share it, or lose it.
What the app reads
| Data | Where it comes from | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Step count, walking distance, flights climbed | Apple Health (HealthKit), read-only | To show your daily total, history, and the per-source breakdown on the Diagnostics screen |
| Live step count for today | The motion coprocessor (Core Motion) | To update today’s number between Apple Health writes |
You grant both permissions in iOS. You can revoke them at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices, and Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness. The app keeps working with whatever you allow.
Manpo Steps does not write to Apple Health. Release builds ask for read access only; the “update” scope exists in the app’s capabilities for a possible future feature (saving a walk as a workout) and is never requested in the version you install.
What the app stores, and where
| Data | Where | Leaves the device? |
|---|---|---|
| Daily snapshots (total per day, the sources behind it, the goal in force, whether the day was a rest, sick, or travel day, the time zone you were in) | On your iPhone, in the app’s own database | No |
| Your daily goal, chosen face, streak settings | On your iPhone (and the goal on your Watch, sent over the Apple Watch link) | No |
| A cached copy of today’s number and its timestamp, so widgets and complications can render when Health is unreachable | The app’s private container on each device | No |
| Your goal and your rest/sick/travel day markings | Your own iCloud account, in Apple’s key-value store, only if “Back up to iCloud” is on (it is on by default) | To your iCloud only. Apple encrypts it; we have no access to it |
The iCloud backup never contains steps. Apple Health already backs those up to your iCloud. Turning the switch off in Settings → Your data erases the backup immediately.
What we do not do
- No account or sign-in of any kind.
- No analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking.
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, no tracking across apps or websites.
- No third-party SDKs. The only network calls the app makes are Apple’s own: iCloud key-value sync (if enabled) and the App Store for the Pro purchase.
- Health data is never used for marketing, never sold, and never shared with anyone, in line with Apple’s HealthKit guidelines.
Purchases
Manpo Steps Pro is a one-time purchase handled by Apple’s App Store (StoreKit). Apple processes the payment; we receive no payment details and no identity — only a receipt that unlocks Pro on your devices.
Your data, your control
- Export. Settings → Your data exports every day on record as CSV or JSON, free, at any time.
- Delete. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device. Your Apple Health data is unaffected. To remove the iCloud backup, turn off “Back up to iCloud” before deleting the app, or delete the app’s data under Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.
- Revoke. Withdraw Health or Motion access in iOS Settings at any time.
Children
Manpo Steps is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at the same address with a new effective date, and the app’s release notes will say so.

App Store Connect — App Privacy answers (for the submitter)
- Data collection: Data Not Collected. No data is collected from the app and sent off device to the developer or any third party. HealthKit data is processed on device and, at the user’s option, mirrored to the user’s own iCloud (goal and day kinds only) — this is user-controlled storage, not developer collection.
- Tracking: No.
- Third-party SDKs: None.
- HealthKit: Read: step count, walking + running distance, flights climbed. Write: none used in 1.0.
